About the Workshop

Calling all trans artists! It's time to take your creative practice to the next level, and we're here to support you! Applying for grants can be an overwhelming process, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Presented by the Transgender District and Diamond Wave, this 2-day workshop provides artists, creatives and culture bearers with the perspective and skills needed to start applying for grants to support their work. Participants will learn helpful tools to find and assess grants and structures to create compelling grant applications, from start to finish.

Led by artist and Trans District Community Advisor Council member Vin Seaman (Director, Diamond Wave), this workshop provides expert insight and supportive guidance to overcome real and perceived barriers to funding your art!

Day 1 provides foundational information about the world of grants exploring questions like:

  • 🔍 Where do I find grants?

  • 🤔 Is that grant right for me?

  • 📅 What happens after I submit?

  • ❓ What if I don't get the grant? What if I do!?

Day 2 centers your creative practice within our grantwriting structure; supporting you to:

  • 🍰 Write a succinct short description

  • ✍️ Expand your ideas into a compelling grant narrative

  • 🧮 Create a clear and detailed budget

  • 🪩 Selecting relevant work samples

Join us for both or either workshop to further your grants knowledge! Don't let financial hurdles dim your artistic brilliance – let’s learn how to find funding together!

This workshop is for trans, nonbinary and gender non-conforming artists, culture bearers and creatives and our allies.
