About the Workshop

Join artist and grant specialist Vin Seaman for a hands-on workshop about finding grant opportunities and writing successful applications.

Applying for grants can be an overwhelming process, especially for individual artists. Led by artist and grant specialist Vin Seaman, this introductory workshop provides participants with helpful tools and structures to create compelling art grant applications, from start to finish.

Over the course of this 3-hour workshop, participants will gain insight into:

  • Finding grant opportunities and assessing grant “fit”

  • Writing a compelling grant application

  • Creating a detailed budget

  • Selecting relevant work samples and other supporting documentation

Participants are encouraged to join via laptop or bring pen/pencil and paper so they can create an outline and/or draft language during active writing time.

Accessibility: Auto-generated closed captions provided. Please contact kiana@diamond-wave.org for additional accessibility needs or requests. Space is limited to ensure ample interaction with participants. Zoom recording will be provided to participants.

About the Artist

Vin, a white, nonbinary person, stands in front of a light gray background. They have light brown hair and a short beard and are wearing a mesh olive drab shirt, a long quartz pendant necklace and a large grey and black scarf around their shoulders. They stare without expression at the camera.

As a grants consultant, they have successfully supported individual artists and arts organizations to access millions of dollars in funding. They have been active in the Bay Area arts ecosystem since 2004 and have previously held positions at the San Francisco Foundation and Queer Cultural Center, and have consulted with a myriad of local and national organizations including the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center, the Luggage Store Gallery and Dance/USA.
